Mariah Cole's Beautiful Failure Blog Tour

Title: Beautiful Failure
Author: Mariah Cole
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:December 17, 2013

If you're looking for a heartwarming story about a girl who falls deeply in love with a troubled boy who changes her life--a sob story with pretty metaphors and a million ways that'll tell you how "broken" she is, STOP. Don't read another word of this.

I'm not that type of girl.

My name is Emerald Anderson and I'm not going to bullshit you: I flunked out of college after my sophomore year, I've been fired from every job I've ever taken, and I've never had a fully functioning relationship in my life.

I wish I could say that I had a cheerleader in my corner, someone who says, "No, Emerald--You're great and you are good at something!" but I don't. My grandparents are completely oblivious to my life, and my mother's dying words to me were "You're going to end up just like me one day. A beautiful nothing."

She was right.

As I decide to start my life over and take two jobs that will forever change me--one from the inside, and one from the outside, I keep my mother's words close to my heart so I can keep the sexy and mysterious Carter Black away.

He's the first man who's ever pursued me, the first man who seems bent on finding out why I am the way I am, but he's wasting his time.

I'm not broken. I don't need to be fixed. I'm perfectly fine being a beautiful failure...

Beautiful Failure was a 10 out of 10 for me. I loved everything about it!!

When you're young, and don't know any better, having a parent who lets you drink, do drugs, and have sex for money might seem cool; it's only when you're older that you realize what kind of parent you really had. Emerald was a girl who had a horrible way of growing up and never knew it.  With a mother who didn't really care about her, she was forced to live life the only way she knew how.  Emerald grew up with a mother who drank, smoked, and did drugs with her on a constant basis.  She also taught Emerald how to use men for sex.

Throughout her life Emerald thought that her mother was a role model, a best friend.  It wasn't until after a tragedy, and a lot of help that she realized her mother only did the best she could, but at the same time, messed her up pretty badly.

Then there's Carter...... God I love Carter!!!  He's amazing in every way; perfect gentleman, who has that dominant bad boy way about him.

Emerald does what she's never done and slowly but surely lets Carter in.

God I love these two!!

Mariah Cole did an amazing job at getting me to connect with the characters.  Beautiful Failure leaves you wanting more.  I can't wait for Beautiful Temptation, the second book in the Beautiful series.

Mariah Cole you did an amazing job, and created a huge fan out of me !!!

Phoeix Rayne's Heels of Love Blog Tour

Book: Heels of Love
Author: Phoenix Rayne
Trilogy: From Love to Loathe, Book #1
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Publisher: G Street Chronicles

Synopsis:
When Cricket Hooper moves to Seattle she only has a couple of goals—find a job and an apartment near her friend Chelle, and basically to live a quiet, normal life. However, it isn't long before life becomes far from normal.

When a mysterious man helps get her car out of the mud after she makes a wrong turn, she finds herself in his thrall. He wines and dines her, quite literally, and before Cricket can stop it, things are steamy and serious…very serious.

Cricket is thrown aback when Jyme turns out to be more than a simple fisherman, but then she isn't telling all of her story either.

Heels of Love was a great, fast paced read.
I loved the character of Cricket.  I felt she had a lot of things that she kept hidden inside.  She was a girl who so badly wanted to let people in, yet feared people's reaction if they were to find out who she really was.
I fell hard for Jyme.  He's sexy, tall and dark.  YUMMY.  I thought Jyme was a sweet mysterious mix.  He made me smile, laugh, cry, and sometimes just got me mad.
When the two start their journey together, it's one that will consume you.
This story takes you places you'll never expect, which was part of the reason why I liked it so much.
Heels of Love is a book you won't be able to put down.  I read it in one sitting, not moving from where I was until I read the very last word.
Heels of Love definitely leaves you with unanswered questions, but I was very happy to see that Phoenix Rayne wrote Wounded Love, the second book in the trilogy.
Overall, Heels of Love was a great 4 star read for me.
I can't wait to get my hands on Wounded Love, and get the rest of Cricket and Jyme's story!

Excerpt:

I woke to an alarm but it wasn't my alarm. I sat up, looked around, and realized it was the hotel's fire alarm going off. I jumped up, ran to Cinnamon’s room, and swung the door open. She was knocked out on her bed half dressed; I shook the shit out of her, and she started yelling.

“What the hell is that noise?”

I ran down to Sugar's room, and she was butt naked and so was her company. I screamed at the both of them to get up. They both jumped up disoriented. I ran back to my room. I put my stilettos I'd had on earlier in my big purse and slid into my house shoes. I ran back down the hall, passing Sugar and her company. I ran back into Cinnamon's room, and she was wide-awake at her safe in her closet getting money out. I had forgotten about my safe, so I ran back to my room. I put the code in and yanked the door open; I pulled out the small stack of money and reached in deeper. I got the plastic bag that was balled up in the corner and shoved everything in my purse. I reached deeper, found the last item in the safe, and slid it on my ring finger. I slammed the door and took off towards the living room. Cinnamon was waiting at the door; we clasped hands and ran for the stairs. The hotel was in an uproar. We made it down to the lobby, but it was so congested with customers trying to leave the casino.

“Basement,” I yelled to Cinnamon. We took the employee stairs and ran down the long concrete hall. There were about a dozen people in front of us, but we finally made it through the door. When we got outside, the back lawn was crammed with people rushing towards the front of the building. Cinnamon and I still held on to each other’s hands. We made it to the front of the building, and everyone was frantic. I pulled out my cell phone to call Sugar, but someone pushed me so hard I dropped the phone. I let go of Cinnamon's hand to retrieve my fallen phone. I found it and stood up straight; a man in all black with a white ski mask stood right in front of me. Before I could even prepare a good scream, someone covered my mouth with a wet bandana, and then I was out. I woke up to soft kisses all over my face, and then I stretched wide. I was sleeping well and I kept my eyes shut. Someone was happy to see me. I have had this dream so many times, and I enjoyed every single one of them.

“Hi there,” I breathed.

“Hi.”

“Where’ve you been?”

“Looking for you.”

“I’ve been right here the whole time.”

“What?”

“You used to come and see me all the time, and then you stopped.” I told him. I kissed his neck and pulled him closer.

“I’ve missed you so much.”

“Cricket?” He said my name in an odd way.

“What’s wrong? Do you have to go now? Please, Jyme, just stay a little longer.”

“Cricket,”

“Shh, just hold me real tight before you go.” There was a knock at the door, and I freaked.

“NO…PLEASE…JYME, DON’T LET HIM HURT ME. HE HITS ME SO HARD. PLEASE DON’T LEAVE ME PLEASE.” I screamed at the top of lungs through tears.

Someone knocked again, louder this time.

“Wait a minute,” Jyme yelling. I clung to him and wrapped my arms around him tighter. I cried into his chest, and my eyes started stinging.

“Cricket, I’m right here, and I won’t let anybody hurt you, I swear.”

“But he’s at the door, and he’ll beat it down. He’s done it before,” I said frantically.

“Shh, Babe. Are you afraid of me?” he asked softly.

“No.”I assured him. “Then open your eyes and look at me” I slowly opened my eyes and blinked several times through piercing pain. Then, I saw him, and I slid my fingers through his jet-black hair.

“Oh it’s you!”

“It’s me,” he chuckled

“You know, you with hair; you’ve never come to see me.”

“Cricket, you're really here, and I’m really here with you. I’m not sure what you’re talking about right now. But I’m not going anywhere, and neither are you.”

“Huh” I asked him. I couldn’t help it but I pinched myself. I felt the pain but I didn’t wake up. There was another knock at the door, and Jyme got up from the bed. I really saw him this time. His hair was loose and shoulder length. He wore jeans and a t-shirt, and his feet were bare. I looked around and recognized everything. We were in our room, and nothing had changed. The bedding was the same, and so was the furniture. I looked out the window, and there were the boats all in the water.

THIS BOOK CONTAINS ADULT CONTENT AND IS MEANT FOR MATURE AUDIENCES

My Review

I truly enjoyed reading Scarred by Love.  It was a perfectly written story about relationships and love.  Scarred by Love takes you on a journey of what really happens in relationships.  I loved the "realness" that brought to the book.

It was so easy for me to connect to Riley's character on a personal level.  Riley's fresh out of an abusive relationship, and she meets Zander; God Zander is so delicious.  A former football player with tattoos, and he's in a band! Yeah, he is all types of delicious.

After some failed attempts, Zander finally gets Riley on board and their journey is one I won't soon forget.  I loved every second of their relationship; they fought, made up, and fell more and more in love with each other.  Scarred by Love wasn't the description of a "perfect" love, but it sure was real.

Sometimes you go through hell and back in a relationship, but when two people truly love each other, they both find a way to make it work.  That's exactly what Zander and Riley did.

I truly did love this story.  I give it a well deserved 5 stars.  Great job C.A. Harms.  I can't wait to read more from you!!

Carnage will rock your world!

Title: Carnage
Author: Lesley Jones
Genre: Erotica
Publication Date: February 14, 2014

I love him, from the instant I set eyes on him when I was just 11 years old I have loved him and nothing will ever change that, he owns me, he owns my heart and he owns my body and no matter how many lies are told, no matter how many people conspire to keep us apart, despite the fame and the distance, we will find a way.

“Georgia Rae, when we made love you used to cry”… He waits for me to sing my bit. I try to swallow down a sob but I just end up singing through it…

“I said I love you like the stars above, I’ll love you till I die”

Carnage, an edgy coming of age love story that breaks all the rules and transcends the decades. Georgia and Sean's story will stay with you long after you read the final word.

An emotional, smoking hot, gut wrenching read.

As I started reading Carnage (Book #1 The Story Of Us), my hopes were definitely high.  I'd discovered last December that Lesley Jones was one of my new favorite authors after reading her Saviour Series.

This is not your typical Rock Star romance!  Lesley not only introduces us to the characters, but she allows us to grow up along with this family of musicians.  We get to follow them as they progress from teenage garage band right on through to world wide sensations.  But this isn't even the main focus of this beautiful story.  This is a story about first loves, forever loves, following your dreams, finding yourself, taking chances, remembering home, heartbreak and healing.

This book grabbed a hold of my heart from the first page.  I laughed, I cried, I loved...I was blown away emotionally!  I couldn't put this book down.  This is the book I couldn't wait to be released so I could tell everyone they needed to go one click it and send it right to the top of their To Be Read list!

This was most definitely a 5 star book for me; I'd give it 6 stars if I could!  I loved the characters, their dynamics, the twists and turns, the surprises and the love shared between family, lovers and friends.  Lesley, you did good, real good with Carnage; I can't wait for what's to come.

Go ahead now, BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!                                                                     -MK

I am a born and raised Essex girl now living on the beautiful Mornington Peninsula, just outside of Melbourne Australia, I moved here with my husband and three sons in 2006.

Not only do I love to write but I also love to read and can devour a book overnight if the story grabs me.

I love watching my sons play football and am very partial to a glass of wine, a nicely chilled Marlborough Sav Blanc being my favourite.
