Review - Traitor - Shannon Myers - Rebecca

Lauren
One box
Lives were lost and relationships destroyed because of that one box. I don't care what the cost is, I won't stop until I have answers. Even if it means declaring war on the detective who once had my heart.

Mike
Every war has its casualties
I was just naive enough to believe that it wouldn't hit so close to home. There's so much blood on my hands, that I'm guilty by association at this point. I don't know how to keep Lauren safe without betraying the club, but I'm willing to die trying.

"Chaos together is a hell of a lot better than a lifetime apart."

In this epic second story in the Renegade series, Shannon Myers pulls out all the stops. After reading Renegade, I could not wait to see where Traitor went, and Lord was it worth the wait! I couldn't put it down - sleepless nights and a lot of uppercut threats throughout! ;) Twists and turns and angst beyond belief. I'm usually really good at predicting where a story will go, but Traitor is one that left me shocked at every turn and dying to turn the page to find out what I was going to be hit with next.

Mike and Lauren's story is one that spans years, and intertwines with so many other lives and events. Not only are we dealing with the romance factor, but we are given such an amazingly perfect combination of suspense, thrills, angst, and general chaos. Just when you think you have it figured out and are coming to a happily ever after, the rug gets pulled out from under you and the Renegade way intervenes.

Shannon Myers' writing flows so smoothly and the details and descriptions make it so easy to visualize everything. She weaves a tale so perfectly!

Will they get their HEA? Will they ever figure out life together or apart? Will you be able to breathe at the end of this story? You'll just have to read it to find out - and I highly recommend you do, as this is one story that will stick with you and leave you with so many emotions and feelings you won't really know how to process it. Book hangover for DAYS! :D

Blog tour & 5 star review ~ Bad Habit by Charleigh Rose ~ Jill Mac

Title: Bad Habit
Author: Charleigh Rose
Genre: New Adult Romance
Release Date: November 16, 2017

BRIAR
I was infatuated with Asher Kelley the moment he came tumbling through my brother’s window five years ago.
Even bruised and bloodied, he was the most beautiful boy I'd ever seen.
We couldn't ever be together.
I was too young, and he was too untouchable.
He was too troubled, and I was too naïve.
But the heart is rebellious, and mine decided it didn’t care about any of those things.
As I got older, harmless flirting turned to stolen moments in dark corners.
Until one day, he was gone without a trace.
Now, two years later, he’s back.
Callous and cruel.
He’s my brother’s best friend. My parents’ worst nightmare.
I should hate him.
But like a Bad Habit, I can’t quit him.
ASHER
I was drawn to Briar Vale from the first time she looked up at me with stars in her big, blue eyes.
She was just a kid, nothing but elbows and knees, but she was the most beautiful creature I'd ever seen.
We could never be together.
I was too old and she was too off limits.
She was too good and I was too fucked up.
Eventually, the temptation became too much to resist.
I risked everything for a kiss and she betrayed me.
Two years have passed and I’m forced to see her again, but now she's all grown up.
She’s my best friend’s baby sister. My downfall.
I hate her for what she did.
But she's always been my drug of choice.

Jill's Review
✰✰✰✰✰
I absolutely LOVED Bad Habit. I've been in a bit of a funk when it comes to romance.  I find this happening a lot lately.  Sometimes when I read too much of the same genre, i find myself loosing interest.  But once I started Bad Habit, I knew i wouldn't have that problem. I was sucked in from page one and did not move until I was finished.

Briar and Asher are EVERYTHING.  Their relationship was addicting. Asher is Briar's brothers best friend.  He's 4 years older than Briar, but that doesn't stop her from wanting him.  To them its wrong.  Its forbidden.  It shouldn't happen. But boy oh boy does it happen, and god IT'S SO GOOD.  I found myself sucked in to their story, not wanting it to end.  Asher is PERFECT.  Even when I wanted to be mad at him I couldn't because I loved him too much. And shit, he was freaking hot.  Like, really effing HOT.

Briar and Asher's story is one of love, hate, regret, and forgiveness.  To me it was real.  I easily connected with Briar.  Her bond with her older brother was something I really loved, especially since I myself have an older brother.  I loved all the secondary characters (and I hope they all get a book).  What I loved most about Briar was that she never came off as one of those pathetic girls. Even though when it came to Asher she was weak, she never once came off as pathetic.  She was a strong girl, even as a teenager.  She took no-ones shit and I loved that about her character.  I could easily be besties with Briar. (except for the fact that I'd totally try to steal Asher from her)

Anyways, Bad Habit was amazing.  The writing was amazing.  Though this was the first Charleigh Rose book I've read, it absolutely won't be my last.  I'm basically obsessed!

You should definitely go buy Bad Habit. I promise you, you will love it!

Charleigh, you've created a forever fan in me! <3

The quiet snick of the front door closing alerts me to her arrival. About fucking time. I flatten myself against the wall behind her door right before she opens it then gently nudges it shut with the back of her foot. She kicks off her shoes and starts to pull her dress up to take it off. Standing with her back to me in front of the moonlit window, I can make out her brand-new curves. Her tight, round ass. The dimples on the small of her back. Her dress is just past her hips when I speak.

“Have fun tonight?”
Briar yelps and drops her dress back in place before spinning around.
“I was until I had some perv spy on me for the second time in as many days.”
“Oh, I’m the pervert?” I taunt, moving closer. She wants to back away, but she doesn’t. She stands her ground, and it only spurs me on. “Correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe it was you who watched me jack off this morning.”
I’m almost sad the lights aren’t on to see her inevitable blush. I’m standing over her tiny form, and she has to crane her neck to look up at me.
“Momentary lapse in sanity.” She shrugs. “It’s nothing I haven’t seen before.”
Those words kick around in my head for a second before I practically tackle her onto her bed. She lands on her back, mouth parted in shock, with her legs spread and her dress ridden up. My hips fill the spot between her thighs, and I pin her hands to the bed.
Fuck, this was a bad idea. She smells good—sweet, like her conditioner—and she feels even better. I have to fight the urge to grind into her.
“Nothing you haven’t seen before, huh?”
“No,” she says between clenched teeth.
“Who was it?” I demand. “Was it the little golden boy from tonight?”
“None of your business.”
“Tell me, Briar,” I whisper, getting closer to her ear. “Did he make you come from a kiss like I did? Does he know what you sound like as you do? Because I can still hear you. I can still see you.”
If her sharp intake of breath didn’t let me know she was affected, the way she rocked into my jean-covered cock does. I stay stock-still, still braced above her with my hands around her wrists.
“Does he know that I was the first one to make this little body come before you even knew how to do it yourself?” I bring her wrists closer together so I can grip them both with one hand, and I trail my index finger from her sternum all the way down to her underwear.
A moan slips free, and her hips chase the friction once more.
“No,” she whispers.

Jill Mac’s Review

✰✰✰✰✰

“I saw him first.  I craved him first.  I loved him first.”

DEAN MOTHERFUCKIN COLE.

Words can describe how excited I was when I found out LJ was giving us Dean’s book.  While people were a little skeptical about Dean and Rosie’s relationship, I was so freaking excited.  While each book in the Sinners of Saint series is about a different hot-hole, you should absolutely read them in order so you can get the background of the friends and understand fully when reading.

“He was my sister’s ex-boyfriend and my first love.”

So if you read Vicious book One, you know that Dean and Emilia (Rosie’s sister) had been together, but you also know that Emilia without a doubt belonged to Vicious in all ways.  They were soulmates.  (If you didn’t read the book what are you waiting for, go read it now!) I’m pretty sure this is why it did not bother me when I found out Dean and Rosie were getting a book, because the relationship with Dean and Rosie’s sister wasn’t “real”, at least not to me.  Dean and Rosie belonged together just like Emilia and Vicious did.  And LJ makes it clear.  So even if you are skeptical, don’t let that sway you, because all questions are answered in Ruckus.

Dean is just EVERYTHING.  He’s one of the hot-holes, but not as much of an asshole as other hot-holes *cough Vicious cough* He was known as the stoner.  I have to say his story was one I was completely lost in.  Once I picked it up, I didn’t stop until it was finished, but what did I expect.  This always happens to me when I pick up one of LJ’s books.  Yes, she’s that talented.  Not gonna lie, this book scared me.  I had this like overwhelming feeling that something real bad was going to happen.  Rosie going through what she was going through, and Dean making stupid mistakes.  No matter what though, I was team Dean all the way.  I loved him, I saw him for who he truly was.  He was a genuinely good person who had issues that he needed to deal with and overcome.

“Love felt like dipping each other in gasoline and burning together.  Love felt like dancing with madness in the dark, watching all of its bright lights.  Love felt like gasping for air when your lungs were already full.”

Let’s move on to Rosie.  Rosie is one of my favorite heroines EVER.  She was someone who spoke her mind when it came to Dean, and eventually everyone else who came in her way of what she wanted.  She had some serious shit going on in her life, and she did what she could to still live life to the fullest.  She wasn’t the type that wanted pity for what she was going through.  All Rosie wanted was to be treated “normal”, and the only person to really ever do that for her was Dean.

“What makes you feel alive? Dean. Dean Cole makes me feel alive.”

The banter between the two was legit so funny.  These two had me laughing so hard with the stuff that was coming out of their mouths.  They were perfect.  Everything about them was perfect.

Ruckus is the story of loving, losing, and finding love again.  It is the story of fighting for what you want, for what you believe in, for what is YOURS.

“I took her face in my hands and kissed her until she lost her balance.  In the rain.  In the reservoir.  In the middle of fucking nowhere.  This mess was our mess.  This chaos was where we thrived.”

Dean and Rosie’s story will forever be a favorite of mine, a 5 star read for sure!
If you are new to LJ Shen please do yourself a favor and read her books.  I don’t even care which one (even though you should most definitely read this series) just read them.  After the first book of hers that I read she quickly became a favorite author, and one that I will one click without even having to read the synopsis.  I promise she’s that good.
