Cover Reveal of Lisa Edward's Songbird Freed

Blurb
My name is Tara O’Connell, and I’ve always believed we control our own fate. That life is a journey with many roads, and the choices we make can shape our future.

Life has presented me with two paths and I’ve chosen one.

Was it right? Did I make the best decision?

After the uncertainty of the last twelve months, my destiny is now crystal-clear to me. I have a man I love more than words can express, a thriving business, and the best friends anyone could ask for. But just when I thought I could put the turmoil of my past behind me and move on, a life-changing phone call has rocked me to the core and turned my life upside-down once more.

To make matters worse, influences outside my control have taken hold and are shattering my perfect world.

But some things are worth fighting for.

Dreams can come true and I’ll do everything in my power to make them happen. But dreams can also be smashed into tiny pieces, and no matter how hard we fight or how hard we wish for something to be, sometimes with the hand we’ve been dealt, we can never win.

Beauties! Jettie Woodruff's Underestimated and Underestimated Too are AMAZING!

I recently found myself to be in a bit of a book slump.  Nothing seemed to catch my attention as I browsed through the pages of recommendations on Amazon, read the latest reviews, listened to friends share their favorite books- none of it sounded like just the right book for me.

I'd heard some really good things about an author who several of my friends seemed to rave about, however I'd never picked up anything by Jettie Woodruff.  After some back and forth conversation with my book Beauty, JMAC, I found a sweet little Amazon gift waiting for me in my inbox- a very sweet, talented author- I'd soon find would be one of my favorites, had gifted me Underestimated: Book One.  Little did I know that this author and series would quickly be added to the top of my favorites.

I was drawn in from the beginning of the book.  I didn't want to put it down because I knew something was going to happen- something had to happen in order to explain all of the dark, edgy comments that I'd heard and read about from the reviews.  What I seemed to have in my hands was a nice little romance about a girl starting over in small town, running from something or someone that I only caught a hint of here and there, as I started off.

As I reached just over a quarter of the way through the book, I was already trying to pace myself because I didn't want to finish it too quickly.  I'd then pick the pace back up again when I remembered there was a sequel waiting, just "one click" away.

I'm not sure if I was more drawn to the story line that seemed to build and build, layer upon layer as I read on or if it was the strength of Morgan- a simple, small town girl who grows into such a brave, strong woman- capable of anything, that kept me flipping to the next page.

And talk about falling in love with a monster of a character like Drew!  I couldn't believe I'd be drawn to someone who was capable of such awful abuse.  But, my book buddies told me to keep on reading and sure enough, Holy Hotness! It happened; I get it now!

I can't just leave this off as a review only for Underestimated.  I quickly one clicked Underestimated Too and immediately started it as quickly as I could close out the first book and open the second on my Kindle.  This was the book I had to pace myself with.  I cherished every page, every paragraph, every sentence and word.  I was in love with these characters- I found myself caring for them- being happy when they were happy- upset when they were hurt or in pain.  This book was just as good, if not a little bit better, even...if that's possible- than the first.  How rare is that- to find a sequel that keeps up with your expectations for the first book in the series?!

I give both of these books 5 stars- I'd give more if it was possible!  If you haven't already, you need to follow these links over to Amazon and  buy both of these amazing books.  While you're there- go ahead and buy your self a copy of Jettie's latest 5 star book-  Shhh...Mack's Side.  She's unstoppable- I can't wait to share more of this special lady's work with you!

And while you're at it, click her to purchase Shhh...Mack's Side                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                              ~MK

Oh Rebel, where have you been hiding all my life?

I was between books and decided I'd take a stroll through my to be read list.  I practically scrolled right by Elle Casey's book Rebel- and Beauties, let me tell you how glad I am to have found this awesome book!

I'm in love with this book!  I know I'm a little late to get on the Rebel Series bandwagon- but believe me, better late than never!!!!  I fell in love with everything about this book.  The characters are so likable; the chemistry between them reminds me of a lot of the relationships I have with many of my closest friends.  There is the perfect blend of friendship, romance, mystery and yes, more romance!

I give Rebel a solid 5 stars- in fact I'd give this book more than that, if I could!  I can't wait to continue on with this series and read the next two books that are already released- Hellion is next and seems like it's going to be just as hot as Rebel was and then the series wraps up with Trouble

One of the many things I'm excited about with this series is the author's plan to follow the mystery behind the death of Teagan's father and her budding romance with Rebel, while still telling the story of her best friend and Rebel's brothers.  I love book series' that include the main characters throughout the series, rather than moving on from them, barely mentioning them again.

Elle Casey has a fan forever- I'll be sure to include my reviews of the next two books in this series once I've finished reading them!  Do yourself a favor and BUY THIS BOOK!  I'd love to hear your comments if you've also read this series!

Isabel Lucero's Unforgivable Sin Blog Tour

In book two of The Escort Series, Troy Thompson and Emilie Watson are finally admitting their feelings and thinking about giving a relationship a try.
What happens, though, when being an escort in Sin City isn’t the only problem to worry about when starting a new relationship?
Someone from Troy’s past is back. Carla was the love of his life, his ex-fiancĂ©, and the woman who committed what most consider an unforgivable sin. A sin that forced him to believe he’d never love or trust another woman again.
With Carla doing her best to convince Troy that she’s changed, and showing up to his house with talks of friendship, Emilie is left to wonder if her and Troy’s connection is strong enough to withstand the return of his past.
Is Carla truly back to heal old wounds, and get closure on their relationship? Or is she back to do whatever’s necessary to be the only woman in Troy’s life?

My Review
Isabel Lucero's second book in the Escort Series, Unforgivable Sin DID NOT DISAPPOINT!   This was such a good book- I didn't think there was any way she could surpass my expectations after her first book in this series, Living In Sin!

If you're looking for a RED HOT summer read, you need to read this book- in fact, If you haven't read either book yet, I promise, you won't be disappointed!

I fell in love with the characters, the story line, the romance!  This book had it all!

I'm looking forward to reading more from this author, she's fast become one of my favorites!

                                                                                                                                        ~MK

I fiddle with my phone, and finally say, “Fuck it.” I text Troy, and it’s probably because I’m slightly tipsy, that I text him what I do.
      Me: You should come over.
A few minutes goes by before he responds.
Troy: Oh really? And why is that?
      I smile at his response.
Me: Oh, you know. Just to hang out and…stuff.
Troy: Stuff. I need to know more about this stuff.
I smile even wider at the prospect of being able to do some sexting.
Me: Well, we can finish that kiss.
      Troy: It wasn’t finished?
      I sigh.
Me: No, it wasn’t. I needed to feel your tongue.
      Me: I mean...my mouth did.
I slap my hand on my forehead. Way to sound stupid, Emilie. This is why you should never drunk text, or even tipsy text. You say stupid shit. Five minutes goes by before he responds. I was starting to wonder if I scared him away.
Troy: What if I want my tongue in other places besides your mouth?
My stomach does a somersault and warmth fills my body. The image of his tongue in other places gets me instantly excited. I shift on the couch, lying down with my head on the armrest.
Me: I think that would be okay, but only if I can return the favor.
Again, several minutes go by without a response. I wonder if he’s just nodding off in bed while we’re texting. With a sigh, I get up and take my glass to the kitchen. I shut off the lights and start walking towards my bedroom. Halfway there I hear a noise by the front door. I jump slightly and look at the clock. It’s eleven thirty at night. I’m immediately grateful that I locked it after the girls left.
I creep back through the living room and towards the door. When I get up to the peephole, I hear a soft knock. Looking through it, I can barely make out a man’s figure. He turns and looks right at me.
“Troy,” I say breathily as I open the door for him.
“So, I think you were saying something about my tongue.”

The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself, Nicholas Tanek

Book Description:

Okay, so no one actually kills themselves in this book.

The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself pulls you into the early 90's New York City rave scene, in all its chaotic, psychedelic glory. The narrator grabs you by your wrist and drags you behind two teenage lovers from New Jersey as they tumble through a whirlwind of reckless hedonism that eventually spirals into a dark, devastating world of drug addiction and heartbreak. As a teenager, Lynn cried, "No one is ever going to write something for me."

Nearly two decades later, in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, Nicholas did just that. The gesture came too late for our unlikely heroine, but his heart was in the right place. A broken heart... but a true love. Reunited after years apart, Lynn and Nicholas embraced their love and sexuality, and embraced each other, despite troubled pasts, despite illness, despite all of their imperfections and mistakes. They shared the kind of honest and shameless connection that few have had the honor of knowing, and most would never understand.

"We're not hurting anyone. We're just living life without caring what anyone thinks about us."

"It's the coolest way to kill ourselves," Lynn said.

So turn the page, and pull the trigger.

I think that you will find my book very interesting. It is a very unconventional romance. The love of my life died at the age of 37. She passed away a little before Hurricane Sandy. With a generator to keep my laptop working, I wrote a book for the woman who thought no one would ever write something for her.

My Review:
A few months ago my friend and fellow blogger JMAC asked me if I'd read a book called The Coolest Way to Kill Yourself.  I'll be honest, I cringed- anyone who knows what I like and don't like to read will tell you my two least favorite things in the books that I read are when characters die and as a result of their death or some other terrible action that takes place throughout the story- the book makes me cry!  I hate crying when I'm reading!  So, I told her I didn't think it was something that sounded like my kind of read- just based on the title!  She was very persistent and told me I needed to read this book.

JMAC has never led me astray...I can still say this after finishing this awesome story!

This book was a great read.  I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and loved the RED HOT romance!  I'd highly recommend this one if you're looking for your next hot book to get lost in on a lazy summer day!

I'm giving this book a solid 4 stars!  Definitely worth picking up and adding to your summer TBR list!          ~MK
