Review ~ Sweet Soul by Tillie Cole ~ JMAC

Title: Sweet Soul
Series: Sweet Home #4
Author: Tillie Cole
Age group: New adult

Genre: Contemporary romance

Release date: 15th December 2015

One shy lost soul.
One silent lonely heart.
One love to save them both.

Life has never been easy for twenty-year-old Levi Carillo. The youngest of the Carillo boys, Levi is nothing like his older brothers. He isn’t dark in looks or intimidating to everyone he meets. In fact, he’s quite the opposite. Haunted by a crippling shyness and the tragic events of his past, Levi spends his days with his head buried in his books, or training hard for his college football team. Too timid to talk to girls, Levi stays as far away as possible and completely on his own… until he saves the life of a troubled pretty blonde, a troubled pretty blonde that might just be the exception to his rule.

Elsie Hall is homeless. Or at least that’s all anyone ever sees. Everyday is a fight for survival on the cold streets of Seattle, everyday a struggle to find food and keep warm. Alone in life—a life that’s dangerous and cruel—her will to keep going is an ever-losing battle. In her world of silence, Elsie has given up hope that her life will contain anything but constant struggle and pain… until the beautiful boy she has severely wronged comes to her rescue at precisely the right time.

New Adult novel—contains sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up

I'm going to start this review off by saying that Sweet Soul is in my top 10 favorite books ever, and tied at number 1 for favorite book of the year.

So a couple of months back a friend of mine recommended this series to me, and I literally devoured the previous 3 books in like 2 days.  Sweet Soul is the youngest Carillo brothers book, and I have to say, it was my favorite one!

Levi is the youngest Carillo brother.  If you read the other books in the series you know he went through A LOT, and that's putting it lightly.  Now that he's older you can tell that his past made him who he is.  Levi is a shy boy, never talks to girls, never really talks to anyone honestly.  He keeps to himself, and holds a lot of guilt from what he's done in the past.

Levi winds up meeting Elsie.  I honestly loved Elsie.  My heart literally broke for her.  I couldn't even contain my emotions while reading this book.  Levi and Elsie's story was so phenomenal I honestly never wanted it to end.

I don't want to give their story away, but what I will say is this book was amazing.  It had everything in it.  It made me laugh, it made me cry, it made my heart beat fast trying to guess what was coming next.  Most importantly it made me FEEL.  Tillie honestly outdid herself with this book.  I recommend this book 100%.  I think everyone should read this book.  Honestly everyone needs to read this series.  I would definitely read this series in order that way you get a feel for all of the characters and their stories.

My words could never do justice to how amazing this book was.  Levi's story will forever stay with me!

Tillie, you have a forever fan in me.

Amazon & USA Today Best Selling Author, Tillie Cole, is a Northern girl through and through. She originates from a place called Teesside on that little but awesomely sunny (okay I exaggerate) Isle called Great Britain. She was brought up surrounded by her English rose mother -- a farmer's daughter, her crazy Scottish father, a savagely sarcastic sister and a multitude of rescue animals and horses.

Being a scary blend of Scottish and English, Tillie embraces both cultures; her English heritage through her love of HP sauce and freshly made Yorkshire Puddings, and her Scottish which is mostly demonstrated by her frighteningly foul-mouthed episodes of pure rage and her much loved dirty jokes.

Having been born and raised as a Teesside Smoggie, Tillie, at age nineteen, moved forty miles north to the 'Toon', Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, where she attended Newcastle University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts honours degree in Religious Studies. She returned two years later to complete a Post-Graduate Certificate in Teaching High School Social Studies. Tillie, regards Newcastle to be a home from home and enjoyed the Newcastle Geordie way of life for seven 'proper mint' and 'lush' years.

One summers day, after finishing reading her thousandth book on her much loved and treasured Kindle, Tillie turned to her husband and declared, "D'you know, I have a great idea for a story. I could write a book." Several months later, after repeating the same tired line at the close of another completed story, she was scolded by her husband to shut up talking about writing a novel and "just bloody do it!" For the first time in eleven years, Tillie actually took his advice (he is still trying to get over the shock) and immediately set off on a crazy journey, delving deep into her fertile imagination.

Tillie, ever since, has written from the heart. She combines her passion for anything camp and glittery with her love of humour and dark brooding men (most often muscled and tattooed – theyre her weakness!). She also has a serious side (believe it or not!) and loves to immerse herself in the complex study of World Religions, History and Cultural Studies and creates fantasy stories that enable her to thread serious issues and topics into her writing -- yep, there's more to this girl than profanity and sparkles!

After six years of teaching high school Social Studies and following her Professional Rugby Player husband around Europe, they have finally given up their nomadic way of life and settled in Calgary, Alberta where Tillie spends most of her days (and many a late night) lost in a writing euphoria or pursuing a dazzling career as a barrel-racing, tasselled-chap wearing, Stetson-sporting cowgirl... Ye-haw!

Dual Review ~ Sweet Home & Sweet Rome by Tillie Cole ~ JMAC

At age twenty, Molly Shakespeare knows a lot.

She knows Descartes and Kant.

She knows academia and Oxford.

She knows that the people who love you leave you.

She knows how to be alone.

But when Molly leaves England's grey skies behind to start a new life at the University of Alabama, she finds that she has a lot to learn — she didn't know a summer could be so hot, she didn't know students could be so intimidating, and she certainly didn't know just how much the folks of Alabama love their football.

When a chance encounter with notorious star quarterback, Romeo Prince, leaves her unable to think of anything but his chocolate-brown eyes, dirty-blond hair and perfect physique, Molly soon realizes that her quiet, solitary life is about to dramatically change forever...

Mature New Adult novel — contains adult content, highly sexual situations and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up*

You met Romeo Prince in the Amazon & USA Today bestselling novel, Sweet Home. Now hear the story from his lips: unbarred, uncensored, and raw to the bone.

It makes me laugh when I hear folks think Molly and I rushed into things too fast, spouting that we couldn't possibly have felt what we did for each other in such a short space of time. I say, how the hell would they know? We made it, didn't we? She became my whole life, didn't she? And as for my folks not being real, being true? Tell that to me aged ten, eleven, twelve—damn, all my bastard life—when I was never enough, when I was beaten until I bled for being too good at football and not being everything they'd dreamed: the perfectly dutiful son. Tell that to thousands of kids around the world getting wailed on by asshole parents for whatever stupid reason; tell them evil don't exist in their eyes.

Fuck Romeo and Juliet. This is the story of me and my girl, from my lips. No mushy sentiment, no cheese, just the plain, hard truth, and, because I'm feeling generous, I'm going to let you in on more of our story too.

Sweet Rome is a New Adult Companion Novel to Sweet Home—contains adult content, sexual situations, and mature topics. Suited for ages 18 and up.

Rome sweet Rome.  God everything about both of these books are just…. Honestly I’m just speechless.  Both Rome and Molly come from different ropes of life.  Molly, a sweet, brilliant girl from England who had everyone in her life taken from her.  Molly knows loss more than anyone, but she also knows what it’s like to be loved.  Even though molly didn’t have the riches, she had a father and grandmother who loved her unconditionally.

As for Rome.  My sweet broken Rome.  I fell hard for this boy.  Rome is the QB of Alabama collage.  He is the most popular guy on campus.  A player is putting it lightly.  He takes control over everything.  On the field, with girls.  The only thing he doesn’t have control over is his life.  His parents have complete and utter control over him.  He feels there’s no hope for his future.  Rome will do what his parents want, and nothing short of that.  Until he meets someone that makes him want more for himself.

Both Molly and Rome have been through things that no one should have to go through.  They both have their stories, their reasons why they are the way they are.  Everything is against Molly and Rome being together.  It’s almost as if things would be MUCH easier if they just left each other alone and went their separate ways.  All I have to say is this book, no, Molly and Rome’s journey is well worth it.  These books will give you the feels.  I cried, laughed, and was happy and sad.

While I usually don’t read many series that have separate POV’s, Tillie Cole executed it perfectly.  Though Sweet Rome was based off of Sweet Home, it was its own story.  Rome touched base on how he and Molly met, and their relationship, but there was way more to this story.  Any questions that went unanswered in Sweet Home were definitely answered.

Both Sweet Home and Sweet Rome were seriously amazing 5 star reads.  Everything about these two books was perfect.  Tillie, while these are my first books of yours that I’ve read, I know they won’t be my last.

If you have not read this series, do yourself a favor and start with Sweet Home.  I promise you will love them!!
